Week by week

Forty weeks, drawn at true size.

A flower for every week, and the real measurement printed beside it — so the comparison never has to be taken on trust.

Most week-by-week guides compare a growing baby to a piece of fruit and leave it there. Zohra draws a botanical instead, and always states the actual length in centimetres and inches next to it. The lengths come from a clinical fetal-development reference table; what is happening each week comes from the NHS. Both are linked at the bottom of every page.

Zohra arrives on the App Store for iPhone shortly. Everything on this site is free to read now, with no account and no sign-up.

By trimester

First trimester

Weeks 1–13

From before conception to the end of the third month — the quietest, least visible, and often hardest stretch to hold on to.

Second trimester

Weeks 14–27

The middle months, when the pregnancy usually starts to feel like something you can picture rather than only something you are told.

Third trimester

Weeks 28–40

The last stretch — bigger, slower, closer, and the part people most often say they wish they had written down.

Every week

Weeks one to three are dated from before conception, so they make no size claim — they are garden, not comparison. Week four is the implantation week, where the clinical table’s own words are “approximately the size of a pinhead” and no length is printed at all.
