Week 10 · First trimester
10 weeks pregnant
Cherry blossom
3.1 cm (1.2 in)crown to rump
The Cherry blossom (~3 cm) is a brief, bright marker of change. It holds the feeling of a moment arriving before you are quite ready to name it.
This week, inside
The fetus is around 30 mm from head to bottom and can make small movements that may be seen on a scan. The face is becoming more proportioned as the ears, upper lip, nostrils, jaw, and early milk teeth continue forming.
What you might be noticing
Tiredness, nausea, and bloating can continue. Indigestion or heartburn and dizziness may also show up.

Small things that help
Try smaller pockets of activity and rest instead of asking the day to run at one speed. Save one sentence about what is changing—and one about what still feels exactly the same.
For the record
What arrived briefly this week that you would like to keep?
Zohra asks one of these every week, and keeps your answer. A year from now it is the part people say they are most glad they wrote down.
Where this came from
Not sure you are at week 10? Work out your due date — or see every week’s size on one chart, and the rest of the first trimester.
Keep this week
Zohra draws this same flower in the app, at this same size, and keeps what you write beside it — with your bump photos, the letters, and the sounds from your appointments.
Zohra arrives on the App Store for iPhone shortly. Everything on this site is free to read now, with no account and no sign-up.
