Pansy

10.1 cm (4.0 in)crown to rump

The Camellia (~8–12 cm) is layered rather than loud. Its many petals suit a week when the story may be gaining detail in ways only you can see.

This week, inside

The fetus is around 10.1 cm from head to bottom. A soft layer of hair called lanugo is growing over the body, eyebrows and eyelashes are beginning to develop, and the eyes are sensitive to light.

What you might be noticing

More milky vaginal discharge, bloating, constipation, and indigestion or heartburn can occur this week. Changes in skin or hair may also be present.

  • More discharge
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Heartburn
  • Skin changes

Small things that help

Choose breathable, comfortable layers and keep a spare pair of underwear in your bag if that makes the day easier. Add a single new line to your keepsake rather than waiting for a perfect long entry.

For the record

What new layer has this experience added to your sense of home or self?

Zohra asks one of these every week, and keeps your answer. A year from now it is the part people say they are most glad they wrote down.
