Week 30 · Third trimester
30 weeks pregnant
Zinnia
40.5 cm (15.9 in)head to heel
At about 39.9 cm from head to heel, your baby is close in length to a Zinnia (~40 cm), a many-petaled bloom on a sturdy stem.
This week, inside
Your baby’s eyes can focus now, and vision will continue developing before and after birth. After birth, the closest focus is expected to be roughly face-to-face holding distance.
What you might be noticing
- Less room for breath. stairs may feel like more work as the growing baby presses upward.
- Sleep and back. sleeping problems and backache can continue.
- Digestion. heartburn, bloating, and constipation are among the symptoms listed this week.
Small things that help
Build in a landing place after effort: a chair, a glass of water, a moment with nothing scheduled. Write one question for your next visit before it slips away.
For the record
What do you imagine your first close look at one another might feel like?
Zohra asks one of these every week, and keeps your answer. A year from now it is the part people say they are most glad they wrote down.
